Sonja is a Personal Fitness Trainer as well as a Nutrition Consultant, having earned diplomas from both Mount Royal College and SAIT. Sonja believes that a healthy body should be everybody’s first priority in life. The key to improving one’s health and fitness is to start from the inside out, and to make achievable goals along the way. Sonja helps her clients to enjoy the journey towards their health goals and not just the results – if you can’t find a way to enjoy your training you’re not going to stick with it. This belief not only guides Sonja’s training philosophy but also her career choice as her own interest in a healthy lifestyle led to her career in fitness and nutrition.

Fitness and Nutrition go hand in hand – you cannot truly feel the benefits of one without the other, and being both a Personal Fitness Trainer and Nutrition Consultant constantly reinforces this to Sonja. Experience, education and a valuable training philosophy allow for development of specific programs for clients that not only achieve results, but are also fun along the way.

Vanessa Pearson, PFT, AFLCA
Vanessa Pearson

Vanessa has been in the fitness industry since 2007. She believes that achieving your fitness goals is mostly in the heart and mind. Current fitness level and experience are not a factor in how hard you can train. Whether you are an elite athlete or you have never even touched a dumbbell, Vanessa will train everyone as equals. Everyone has that mental toughness within them required to push through that one last repetition or run that last distance regardless of fitness level. It is not about your level of fitness, it’s about how hard you will push yourself to achieve your desired gains.

Vanessa has experience training all ages and fitness levels from the high-school soccer player, to the senior citizen trying to better their lives. She will provide you with a training program suitable for your age group and fitness goals. Throughout her fitness training experience, she has learned to adapt/modify programs to suit any age group, as well as individuals with limitations due to injury. Her experience has allowed her to gain the creativity to create a program suitable for any function, career, or sport.

Vanessa has been in the Calgary Army Reserves since year 2009. She has been physically active since she was a small child. Vanessa has experience with distance running, adventure racing, and basic martial arts experience. Fitness has become a passion and way of life for Vanessa. To her, it is just as important and as regular of a daily occurrence as eating and sleeping.

Malynnda Churko, Registered Massage Therapist
Maynnda Churko
Malynnda believes that knowledge is power. She has the right tools to allow clients to make informed health decisions. The enjoyment of being a healer is so rewarding her passion for health care will never expire.

Malynnda’s understanding of the musculoskeletal system began as a determined athlete. As a former gymnasts the concepts of strength, flexibility, power and endurance were engrained at a young age. As an athlete it is inevitable to become injured throughout the process, so her compassion for those in pain is from experience.

Currently Malynnda is a LEAP instructor at gymnastics, building young athletes to reach their best potential. As injury is common, coaching has tuned her knowledge of traumatic and overuse injury, and the means to overcome them.
