Trigger Habits: Systematize Your Success :)

Hey Everyone!

The name of the game is building good habits. This might look like trying to practice drinking more water, going for walks in the morning or after dinner, getting to the gym, or reading that book or listening to that podcast.

We try and do everything and it can often be confusing or overwhelming. In my experience, i’ve noticed that a few habits matter the most, and they lead to all other proceeding habits.

These are called TRIGGER HABITS.

Think of trigger habits as habits the create a catalyst for you to complete other habits. here is an example:

You want to improve your nutrition and fit in to clothes that you can’t fit into anymore. You have trouble maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Here are the habits you can do:

Drink more water

Exercise

eat high protein

Wake up early

…..For me, the Trigger Habit is exercise. When I exercise, I can do whats called HABIT Stacking. I fill up a 1 Liter bottle of water, I drink it throughout my workout, and then post workout, I drink a protein shake. These are 3 habits that now get me closer to my goals.

Here is another example:

I want to be more productive.

My trigger habit is getting spend 60 minutes a Day doing 1-3 things that will grow my business/ push me closer to my goals. After that 60 minute habit of working towards these 1-3 things, I create a list for the rest of the day.

By focusing on just that one hour, I’m not only making progress on my business but also setting myself up for a productive day. Once I’ve tackled my priorities, I find that I’m more motivated to keep the momentum going—whether it’s responding to emails, brainstorming new ideas, or networking.

So, how do you identify your own trigger habits? Start by asking yourself: What is the one habit that, if established, would make it easier to implement other positive habits? Here are some tips to help you pinpoint your trigger habit:

  1. Reflect on Your Goals: Take a moment to think about what you really want to achieve. Whether it’s health, productivity, or personal growth, understanding your end goal can help you identify the habit that will have the most impact.
  2. Experiment: Don’t be afraid to try different habits and see what works for you. Keep track of how each habit affects your overall routine and motivation.
  3. Start Small: Remember, you don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Choose a simple trigger habit that feels manageable and gradually build on it. Small changes can lead to big results!
  4. Stay Consistent: Consistency is key. Try to practice your trigger habit at the same time each day to help it become ingrained in your routine.
  5. Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. This positive reinforcement can help motivate you to continue building your habits.

Incorporating trigger habits into your routine can transform the way you approach personal growth. They simplify the process and make it easier to build a chain of positive behaviors that ultimately lead to achieving your goals.
